DIFFERENCES IN WORK MOTIVATION OF LEADERS OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR ORGANIZATIONS

Abstract

In order to increase the knowledge about a manager’s work motivation, the aim
of this article is to analyze the work motivation of managers in both private and public
sectors. There were 81 participants in this research, consisting of 28 men and 53
women. The average age of the investigated persons was 36,6 years. Participants in
the study had to fill out a questionnaire which was created out of three parts: “Work
Value Questionnaire”; “Job Characteristics Inventory” and a questionnaire which
was created according to various authors evaluating work motivation. No significant
differences were found in work motivation in groups of workers of public and private
sector organizations.
