This article discusses the contemporary perspectives towards a professional career emphasizing that the fast
changing economic, social and technological environment influences changes in perception of the concept of
career. Theoretical analysis provided in the article is based on a systematic view towards a career and states that
it is not possible to seek it fragmentically. Objective and subjective or internal and external factors, which are
very important when planning and seeking a professional career, are discussed here as well. Following the author’s
discussion on the most important career elements, an adjusted career model is presented.
