The Problem of Theory and Practice in Public Administration Education

The article focuses on the analysis of the emerging synergy among the various aspects of public administration and its
impact on the students of public administration in Lithuania. Besides that the tendency to focus academic study
programmes on preparing graduates for practical work in public sector is reviewed as well. The changing approach to the
graduation requirements and specifically the thesis that usually is the final test of the knowledge and skills of the
graduating student is discussed.
